Gas Help

It is normal to have a transaction with an error occasionally. This can happen because of a few different things,

  • Running out of gas: Raise your gas limit (at the bottom when customizing your gas settings)
  • Cannot estimate gas: add some funds, you might not have enough of the token required to process the transaction

Some errors can be due to network congestion, so please check etherscan. If gas is high or you are getting the 2nd error, you might not have enough funds to complete the transaction at this time.

Presetting Gas

This is good to know how to do for a few reasons, generally when you're trying to go for a hyped mint or in cases where you get an error when trying to interact on-chain. You will want to have your gas preset or be able to do so.

  • To start, open metamask, go to settings, and click on "Experimental".
  • Enable Enhanced Gas Fee UI
  • Go to metamask and queue a transaction sending yourself 0 eth.
    • We are just trying to trigger a transaction, so that we can edit the gas fee.
  • Once you trigger the transaction you will see this page, click on "Edit". Go to "Advanced" and raise the Base and Priority fees to the limit set on transactions that have went through recently or what you feel will secure the mint. Gas presets can vary wildly based on the floor or speculated floor of the project.

After you have it set, you can check the box at the bottom to save it for your upcoming mint.

The numbers you put will vary depending on which chain you are on and network activity at the time. The numbers in the example are good for a moderately hyped mint on ETH. You don't want to always use these settings only when its necessary. For instance the mint for Otherdeeds by Yuga Labs had a gas fee between 2.6-5 ETH. Most of the time its around 70%+ of the current floor price, if you're sniping or going for FCFS in a hyped mint.
